The application process formally starts at the end of January each year. The "Priority Application Period" typically runs from the end of January through mid-February for the following school year. Applications will continue to be accepted after the end of the priority application period, but those applications will be reviewed in the second round of applications. Applications must be submitted with all supporting documents. For the most updated information, please consult the "application Information" page on the school website.

You must submit the following in order to be considered for admission to St. Pius X Regional School:

• Application
• Birth Certificate AND Baptismal Certificate if child is Catholic
• Report cards or progress reports for current year and previous two years
• Results of latest standardized testing & previous two years (typically given in grades 2 - 7)
• Immunization Certificate, Health Evaluation/Assessment and Policy Acknowledgment
• Pastoral Recommendation (if Catholic)
• $225.00 application fee (the amount of this fee is subject to change)

Age requirement for Pre-Kindergarten is age 4 by September 1, 2019

Age requirement for Kindergarten is age 5 by September 1, 2018

Grades Pre-K through 5 have a teacher and aide.  The aides provide frequent small group instruction in a room that is separate from the main classroom.  Our average class size is 30 students.

Approximately 15/1 in the lower grades (teacher/aide), and 30/1 in the middle school.

Teachers follow the Catholic Schools Academic Standards as written by the Archdiocese of Washington.

Yes.  Students attend religion class every day.  The teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are central to our school and mission.  The Pastors of the four supporting parishes and a Deacon regularly teach religion class at our school.  Students are expected to attend all school and class masses.    Each grade selects, plans, and executes a year-long service project so that students can live the tenants of our faith.  Non-Catholic children are welcome at our school, but they are expected to attend all religion classes and liturgical services.

Students have many opportunities to attend mass throughout the entire school year. Students attend several "all-school" masses with the entire student body (opening school mass, mass during Catholic Schools Week, and closing school mass).  Special "class masses" are also celebrated monthly; these late-morning masses are attended by all the students of that grade. Parents are always welcome to attend the masses. All students are expected to attend mass and behave properly at all times. Non-Catholic children may proceed to the altar during communion to receive a blessing.

Most parents bring their child to and from school in private automobiles, and many parents form carpools early in the school year. If students live in certain designated neighborhoods close to school, they may apply for a "walkers pass" to allow them to walk to and from school each day. Metro bus service is available at nearby Metro bus stops along Annapolis Road and major surrounding streets. Private bus service is not available.

Yes. The Extended School Program (ESP) offers before school care beginning at 7:00 A.M. and after school care from dismissal to 6:00 P.M. for grades Pre-K - 8. The care includes quiet time for play, reading, and help with schoolwork. In addition, snacks, movies and extended playtime are part of afternoon care. The ESP is open to currently enrolled students at St. Pius and is staffed by teachers and other qualified individuals approved by the State of Maryland Department of Human Resources Child Care Administration.

Tuition is calculated on a per diem basis for the entire school year but is collected in nine equal monthly payments from August to April. 

Spaces in the program are limited with priority given to: 
1) students currently in the program 
2) siblings of students currently participating in the program 
3) currently enrolled students 
4) incoming students

Yes.  If you are a member of one of the four supporting parishes (Ascension, St. Edward's, St. Pius X, or Sacred Heart), you should check with your parish pastor to determine if your parish offers any parish-based tuition assistance.  In addition, the Archdiocese of Washington offers financial aide.  Please be mindful of all financial aide application deadlines.

Uniforms can be purchased from Flynn O'Hara, in Lanham, Maryland. 

In addition, the school has both a boys' and girl's uniform exchange. The uniform exchange allows school parents to purchase gently used uniforms at a reasonable price.

In general, boys wear white polo shirts and navy uniform dress pants with navy socks and black or brown dress shoes. In the lower grades, girls wear a navy/green plaid jumper with a white peter-pan color blouse, navy cable knit dress socks and black or brown shoes. In the upper grades, girls wear navy/green plaid skirts and white polo shirts. Matching uniform sweaters may be purchased for cooler months. This is only a summary; the official school handbook should be consulted for the entire uniform policy. Students are expected to present a neat appearance at all times.
