Welcome
From Mr. Love, Principal: As principal of St. Pius X Regional School, I am honored to welcome you to our school. Our school thrives on the efforts of, not only, the faculty and parents, but also the Pastors of our four parishes.
Our school seeks to support a wide diversity of student needs and learning styles, and to nourish the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of its students.
With a commitment to spiritual and professional development for the faculty and staff, St. Pius X strives to be grounded in the spirit of Gospel values, and to be knowledgeable in an ever-changing educational society. St. Pius X Regional School sends into society a child well equipped with a strong education based on Catholic values.
It strives to "teach what we believe and live what we teach."
From Fr. Jones, Pastoral Administrator: As pastor of St. Pius X Church, it has been a joy to watch so many children pass through the halls of our school. It reminds me of the words Jesus spoke, when he said "Let the children come to me". Jesus taught us that children are the future of not only our faith, but our society.
We were reminded of this during the recent Convocation on Education, when Archbishop Wuerl said "our institutions need to educate the mind, heart and spirit". He also said. "We need to have a strong faith formation. And, that is what sets us apart. The school is the instrument of faith formation and social justice."
As one of the first schools to embrace the "Regional School" concept almost 18 years ago, St. Pius X Regional School has been in the forefront of our education system and will continue to do so with the support of our faculty, staff, parents and the parishioners of St. Pius X, Ascension, St. Edward the Confessor and Sacred Heart Churches.
Through the sharing of our time, talent and treasure we can accomplish our goals!
Philosophy & Mission
The philosophy of St. Pius X Regional School is based on the principle that each child is a unique individual striving to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. At St. Pius a learning environment has been created to develop each child's God-given talents and gifts by teaching values, academic excellence and faith. This is clearly the cornerstone of the curriculum and the entire school community.
A Regional Concept
St. Pius X Regional School was founded in 1962 as a parish school and designated a regional school in 1990. Renamed St. Pius X Regional School, it now serves the registered, practicing, and contributing parishioners of Ascension, St. Edwards, Sacred Heart, and St. Pius X parishes. If there are vacancies, students from neighboring parishes and the community at large may be admitted to St. Pius X Regional School, providing they meet the admissions requirements.
Religion
Religion is a part of daily life at St. Pius X. Regular Mass attendance and class participation in the preparation of liturgies is a treasured part of the religious education program. The school community strives to provide an environment to nurture and empower each child to live a faith-centered life and grow into a respectful, responsible and caring Christian young adult.
Academics
The academic philosophy at St. Pius is grounded in the belief of educating the "whole" child to include a Family Life series starting in the first grade. The success of the academic programs at St. Pius are based on the strength of
- A well-educated, caring and diverse faculty
- An enhanced curriculum where our school ranks in the top 10th percentile of schools nationwide in standardized test scores

Kindergarten
Our program, held at the Sacred Heart and Ascension campuses will welcome 20 students in each of the 3 full-day classes for the 2007-08 school year. The 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. sessions will feature reading readiness, spiritual, and social development.
Teachers
The St. Pius X Regional School faculty is degreed, with many of its teachers holding advanced degrees and has a history of stable tenure. The faculty sees it as their purpose to help instill in each child the desire to learn, to explore, and to further each child's relationship with God and others. There are degreed teacher aides in kindergarten through grade three.
Parents
Parent involvement makes St. Pius X Regional School unique. The school recognizes that parents are the first and most important teachers of the children. The HSA and the School Advisory Board are examples of how the faculty, principal, pastor and parents come together to provide service and vision for the children and the school community.
Morning-Care / After-Care
A licensed extended-care program staffed by members of the faculty is available to St. Pius families. The program provides quality care and supervision for students before and after school hours. The program includes homework time, supervised free play, and snacks. It is available for a modest fee.
Special Programs
To attend to the daily needs of the students there is a health room that is staffed full time by a registered nurse. Educational specialists and a full time counselor are available to observe and consult with families regarding any possible educational or learning difficulties. Special programs and activities are held to educate students on fire safety, dental hygiene and the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. A school-sponsored safety patrol program provides students with a safe arrival and departure from school.
